Tobacco Road

I am not a fan of tobacco and raising taxes on cigarettes is fine by me. But this seems a bit extreme:

I'm hearing that House and Senate Democrats are preparing legislation to raise cigarette taxes and require the FDA to regulate tobacco and hope to have it passed and sent to President Obama's desk by the end of the first 100 days in office.

Regulate tobacco? Isn't the Surgeon General's warning sufficient? I don't want to speculate as to what the regulation may be but this really seems to be a waste of time and money. We already criminalize taking other drugs, is this the slippery slope?
