Our Constitution and liberal democracy are skating on thin ice with the former Cheerleader and his gang of punks in charge of our military. Glenn Greenwald reports an interesting email exchange with a Petraeus aide. The Colonel needs an attitude adjustment. A few years in Leavenworth will take care of that.

Heather & Pete
With the announcement of Pete Domenici coming this afternoon, Heather Wilson has decided to throw her hat in the ring for the seat. The very first thing the Democrats should do is start hounding Heather Wilson to denounce the American Conservative magazine article entitled American Sycophant written by conservative Andrew Bacevich. If she can vote to condemn MoveOn for their tasteless ad about Petraeus she will certainly want to defend his honor from that scathing attack.
Heather has been traveling around the state quite a bit this Spring. And someone is running an ad (since the SCHIP final vote) encouraging people to call Heather and thank her for voting FOR the legislation. To steal a line from Clarence Thomas: Whoop-de-damn-do! What with her being a maverick and all.
She's still got all the baggage from voting for the War, continued support of it, and her silence on the issue of torture. You know, REAL criticism of the former Cheerleader and his henchman. Oh, and the little matter of a phone call might hurt a bit as well.
So Heather: Bring It On!
Anyone seen my MISSION ACCOMPLISHED banner anywhere?

What Do You Mean WE White Man?
First the deadenders supporting the former Cheerleaders disastrous War in Iraq want us to condemn attacks on David Petraeus from the Left, most notably the infamous MoveOn.org NYT ad. It looks like David is now being attacked from the Right. Holy Shit! Looks like the David is being encircled. Now if he could find Goliath and kick his ass everything might get better.
UPDATE: The author of the article is Andrew Bacevich. Bacevich lost his son in Iraq earlier this year.

Another story getting in the way of MoveOn bashing
Looks like we may have another story getting in the way of discussing whether of not poor little David's feelings were hurt by those meanies over at MoveOn.org. Money quote:
The Government Accountability Office, the investigative arm of Congress, says delays for disability payments still average 177 days — nearly six months — with no indication that dramatic improvement is in the offing. The GAO also found continuing frustrations and shortfalls in care for the increasing number of military returnees from Iraq.

Can We All Just Move On?
Did MoveOn.org jump the shark with this ad? Frank Zappa once said, "Politics is high school with more guns and money." Apparently, the MoveOn folks forgot to bring their guns, because this ad is inaccurate, unnecessary and brings nothing to the debate. It is just plain stupid. Why attack a man who dedicated his entire professional life to serving our country? MoveOn should do just that.

Kill'em all. Let God sort'em out. Or not.
NPR interviews General David Petraeus. Here's the money quote:
GEN. PETRAEUS: In many respects, this is a thinking man's warfare. You can't kill everyone out there. You're not going to kill yourself out of an insurgency. (my emphasis added)We are in serious, very deep, doo-doo. The Crawford Texas Village Idiot must now think? The end is nigh.

Homina, homina, homina
His instincts were to tell the truth.
UPDATE: Andrew Sullivan is correct. And it is indeed sad that telling the truth is considered a gaffe in the Bush/Cheney era.
Isn't it just a touch troubling that AFTER Petraeus had time to collect his thoughts he tried to backtrack? David Petraeus meet Colin Powell (a once beloved General). Is that Taps I hear playing over the grave of our great Constitution?
