Before you Die ...

Last Saturday we stopped by Rhoda's Famous Tamales in Lake Village, Arkansas. If you are ever in the neighborhood stop by. We drove 200 miles out of our way to have some of Rhoda's tamales. I ate 1 1/2 dozen tamales on the spot with a catfish filet sandwich chaser. She also makes pecan pie and sweet potato pie so good it'll make say bad things about your mama's cooking.

We're taking tamales, pies and a great story to our friends in New York. You won't soon forget this food. I guarantee a memorable meal in this out of the way tiny place.

Road Trip Update

Day One: Got a late start and just arrived in Amarillo after 4 hours of driving. Not bad time considering we just covered 308 miles, including roughly 50 miles of slower driving because of road work.

What a bunch of pussies in Texas. The speed limit on the interstate is 70 during daylight and 65 after dark. PLEASE! My 80 year old mother drives faster than that. All hat, and fucking cattle, indeed.

More after I get some shut eye.

And So It Goes

Tomorrow is a big day for us. New vehicle. New boots. New hat (and still no cattle!). Wrap up a few details. Pack new vehicle. Say goodbye to family. Then its on to Oklahoma City and the first leg of our road trip to and through New England. I've been following the weather closely and it looks like we might miss most of the rain that's drenching much of the Southern Plains.

We are looking forward to travelling through some parts of the country we haven't been to in a number of years. I'll provide a daily post and pictures along the way.

The Road Trip (Prelude)

We've moved out of the house and are now at our temporary lodging. Road trip begins soon!

Michael Phelps won more gold. The guy can swim, but can he ride a unicycle and juggle?

I'll be spending the next few days negotiating purchase of a new vehicle, buying a MacBook, swimming, playing my guitar and reading to catch up on the outside world. More soon.

Road Trip Update

My infrequent blogging can be attributed to our busy schedule prior to our move to New England. Soon enough we'll be on the road and I'll have pictures, video and reports from the road.

Me on the Intertubes

We sold our house and the new owners will close in a few weeks. We are moving to New England. I will blog, vlog, Facebook and Twitter our journey across the country. The exact itinerary has not yet been decided but it will be fun to travel with our daughters for our first extended road trip. Look for video and frequent posts about the adventure.
