I Have Not Forgotten You

My condolences to all the families and friends of those who died on that terrible day eight years ago.

SPECIAL NOTE: For my friend from You Tube, I know you lost your sister that day and I am thinking of you today. Molly, the girls and I send you our best wishes.

Mark Knopfler's song If This Is Goodbye was written a couple of years after September 11, 2001. During an interview he once explained that it took him a while to come to grips, as an artist, with what happened that day. He could not immediately sit down and write a song. It took him a while. What he did pen was magnificent. It was written after he listened to many of those final phone calls, and the reports about them, from the people who died that day. It is written from that perspective.

If you knew your were facing your last moments and could make one phone call: who would you call and what would you say? This is the one song, of all the songs written about 9/11 that speaks to me:

Who knows how long we've got
Or what we're made of
Who knows if there's a plan of not
There is our, I know there is our love

You can listen to the song on Imeem or download it at Amazon.

Saddam Derangement Syndrome

From my own personal experience of teaching mathematics to college students I know many Americans can't do eighth grade Math. Prima facie evidence reading comprehension skills have fallen below the eighth level as well:

One of the most striking poll findings is the number of people who continue to think Saddam Hussein was behind the Sept. 11 attacks. Depending on how it is asked, more than a third of Americans say Saddam Hussein was personally involved in those attacks. In a New York Times/CBS News Poll in September, 33 percent of the respondents said Saddam Hussein was “personally” involved. In June, when Princeton Survey Research, polling for Newsweek, asked if “Saddam Hussein’s regime was directly involved in planning, financing or carrying out the terrorist attacks,” 41 percent said yes.

He's NOT my Mayor

Brave New Films takes down the Real Rudy and debunks the myth of his 9/11 heroism.

Phony? That would be too kind for this lying skunk. It may not be enough to call Rudy a liar. Rudy makes Nixon look like a dissembling fool. Rudy's shriveled up little heart should be ripped from his chest and fed to a pack of wild jackals.

Listen to the audience when Giuliani lies to the 9/11 Commission about the radios. If this does not get Rudy put in prison then we have no hope for justice in this country. I am sick of this lying prick and his reliance on his "heroism".

The good news here is that between the Evangelicals who don't like him for their reasons and his out and out lies about the Firefighters on 9/11 we hopefully will not have to deal with this coward anymore.

I kept my mouth shut

I have never voted for George W. Bush. Never. But I confess that after the butchery of September 11, 2001 I felt it was important to NOT criticize the President and give him a chance to lead. Within minutes it was obvious he would not. Flying around the country like the chickenhawk he is, the President did not go straight into the jaws of tiger. He, very much like his military service, avoided the difficulties and discomfort of facing our enemies. I was disappointed. Bush and his gang of pussies hid out in bunkers around the country. But I kept my mouth shut. This great nation was severely wounded. She needed all of her citizen to pull together. It was not a time for carping. As my Liberal friend Nancy said, "Let's at least put out the fire before we start pointing fingers." I agreed. I was with the President. A President I did not like, nor did I agree with! So he told us to go shopping. Jesus! Idiot! By December 2001, when the Defense Department was repositioning Special Forces units away from Afghanistan to train and refit for another upcoming mission, he had lost me. Paying taxes and shopping do not qualify as shared sacrifice. I know that and I didn't go to Yale.

Thousands of dead Americans and Osama still taunts us.

Shrub you are a disgrace and a coward.

We are better than them

"The people who did this to us are monsters; the people who cheered them have hate-sickened minds. One reason they can cheer is that they know we would never do to them what their heroes did to us, even though we could, a thousand times worse. They know that when we hunt down the monsters, we will try hard not to harm the innocent. Those are the handcuffs we willingly wear, because for all our flaws, we are a decent people." -- Dave Barry.

Two towers, a pentagon, and a lonely field

We have not forgotten you.
