I have not been real happy with the Clintons as of late. Tonight they brought me back in the fold. HRC got game. Serious fucking political game. She proved it beyond a shadow of a doubt tonight. That was a big time move tonight.
I realize it was coordinated with the Obama campaign but it was pulled off nicely. Well done.

It's the Country, Stupid
I am quite pleased that we won't have to deal with the Clintons on the national scene much longer. This Vanity Fair piece would an ominous foreshadowing of what the Democrats would be in for if HRC had won the nomination.
To know Clinton is, sooner or later, to be exasperated by his indiscipline and disappointed by his shortcomings. But through it all, it has been easy enough to retain an enduring admiration—even affection—for a president whose sins against decorum and the dignity of his office seemed venial in contrast to the systemic indifference, incompetence, corruption, and constitutional predations of his successor’s administration. That is, easy enough until now. When it comes to the Clintons I can honestly say "been there, done that." I have little desire to re-fight the 90's. We have a lot of fixin' to do in this country after 8 years of those fucking war criminals in the White House and the last thing we need is worrying about who Bill is banging this week. I don't care if he is or is not a loyal husband. I do not care. Unfortunately, the sexually repressed, Cheeto-breath right and the MSM are obsessed with Bill's pecker.
Lets get on with bringing home our boys and girls from Iraq so we can send them off to college, or get them the care they need. Lets get on with restoring the 4th amendment and telecom immunity. Lets get on restoring the DOJ's reputation and ... on and on. Its about the country, stupid.
I have no doubt the Right will have its issues with a President Obama but he won't be giving them ammunition. He's got a lot of self-discipline and does not appear to have the narcissistic tendencies that doomed Clinton. We actually have a chance to get some important shit done.

Clintonistas and the War Criminals
Clintonista Lanny Davis now thinks Fox is fair and balanced. Terry McAuliffe agrees that consigliere to the War Criminal in the White House is right about the electoral math. The Clintonistas have no shame. None.
I look forward to Obama driving a stake into the heart of the Clinton campaign and ridding the Democratic party of these rat-bastard swine.

Is Oregon in the Mail Bag for Obama?
Yes, says Poblano at his very fine blog FiveThirtyEight.com and I suspect he is spot on with this insight:
Sounds about right to me. But go read for yourself the blog is great.
So let's say there's some big event that takes place over the weekend and swings momentum toward Clinton. It won't matter, but for the small percentage of Oregonians who use the drop-box option (in 2004, about 13 percent of the primary ballots were received on election day itself, or about 29 percent of the total returned). For all intents and purposes, the election in Oregon is about two-thirds over. That's why Barack Obama is campaigning in Michigan today; the election is literally in the (mail)bag.

Is the Dam About to Burst?
Does this delegate's jumping ship signal a larger trend? Or, is this just a one-off ?
Prince George's County Executive Jack B. Johnson, a Democratic convention delegate pledged to support Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, said yesterday that he thinks Sen. Barack Obama has "in a real sense" won the Democratic nomination and that he now plans to support Obama at the August convention.
...
Unlike superdelegates, who are free to endorse either candidate, Johnson is one of 28 pledged delegates who have agreed to represent the 36 percent of Maryland Democrats who voted for Clinton on Feb. 12.
Although it is well within the rules for PLEO's to shift allegiances I'm not sure this is how it should play out. I'll have to think about this a bit more but something doesn't quite seem cricket here.

Hanging With the Hard Working White Folk
Looks like Clinton has been Hanging With the Hard Working White Folk in Oregon. Here a little something from the shallow end of the gene pool:
“I think it’s just great that she’s staying in,” Frisby told me. He isn’t a big fan of Obama. He’s heard Obama won’t sing the national anthem, that he considers it a war song. “How good an American could he be if that’s his way of thinking?” Frisby asked. “His patriotism goes one way—that’s his way.”
How did Frisby hear about Obama’s dislike of the national anthem? You guess it: By email.
And these people are Democrats.

Bad Policy
The astute Hilzoy penned an excellent piece on Clinton's unsuitability as President based on her combativeness and willingness to pursue any policy--regardless of its implications--for political expediency.
Based on this episode, how much confidence can we have that she'll really be wiling to go to the mat to combat global warming? None at all. Based on her vote for the Iraq War Resolution -- a vote that was, at the time, seen (wrongly) as one that Democrats had to cast if they wanted to secure their own political viability -- how much confidence can we have that she'll be willing to go to the mat to protect our national interests or to prevent a pointless, stupid, destructive war? Likewise, none at all.A fair assessment of Senator Clinton's history as a legislator is indeed one of pure and simple political expediency. She's never gone to the mat for the correct policy issue if that policy could remotely injure her future prospects. With that said, how effective a legislator; much less President would Clinton make? Not very. She's not a leader. She's an expectations manager looking for the next opportunity to further her own political ambition.
If there's anything we should have learned from George W. Bush, it's that generalized combativeness is not a good thing in a President. We need not just someone who's willing to fight in general, but someone who's willing to fight for the right things. If you think that the right things just are the things that advance Hillary Clinton's political interests, then there's no problem. But if you want someone who is willing to fight for good policies that are in our national interest, that actually address serious problems, then it's worth recognizing that while she is more than willing to fight, she is not willing to fight for that.

Clinton-McCain Axis of Likemindedness
The Clinton-McCain Tax Holiday Scam is the first time Senator Clinton has jumped on the McCain bandwagon. She agreed with his first Stay-In-Iraq-Forever plan back in 2005. Parisgnome has the story at GOS.
Sen. CLINTON: If I could just add to what Senator Graham said, because I think it's really important we underscore this.
Senator McCain made the point earlier today, which I agree with, and that is, it's not so much a question of time when it comes to American military presence for the average American; I include myself in this.
But it is a question of casualties. We don't want to see our young men and women dying and suffering these grievous injuries that so many of them have.
We've been in South Korea for 50-plus years. We've been in Europe for 50-plus. We're still in Okinawa with respect to protection there coming out of World War II. You know, we have been in places for very long periods of time.

Obama's Trifecta
In a speech before an Indiana crowd responding to the phony gas tax pander:
Meanwhile, Obama once again stated his opposition to such a holiday while also campaigning in Indiana. “This isn’t a real solution. This is a gimmick,” he said. “And this is what Washington does whenever there’s a big problem. They pretend that they’re solving it to try to get though a political season but they don’t really solve it. And unfortunately, after John McCain made the proposal ,I guess Sen. Clinton thought it was gonna poll well, so she said, ‘Me too, I’ll do the same thing.’ and so now it’s the McCain-Clinton proposal to suspend the gas tax.
Ouch! Thats going to leave a mark.
He then said, “You know people are more concerned about looking good for the cameras and for politics than they are at actually solving problems. You remember when George Bush five years ago put up a big sign in front of an aircraft carrier saying ‘Mission accomplished’ in Iraq. I’m sure they thought that was good politics. Except five years later we’re still in this war in Iraq.”
And Obama wins the trifecta smackdown!

The End is Nigh
For all the mouthbreathers so concerned about FL and MI go read this at the blog of an undeclared (but already decided) SD. Here’s the money quote:
The best solution to this is to seat the delegates and not give them a vote, or to split the vote allocations 50/50 for each candidate – in effect nullifying their votes.
When asked this question:
As a Democrat, should I be worried that this fight could go all the way to the convention, thus resulting in disaster for the Democratic Party in November. Or, should I simply be patient, as this will work itself out? Thanks. I know that is a difficult question to answer.
This was the response:
I don’t think it’s a difficult question to answer. It will be resolved in June.
I highly recommend stopping by to read this blog. Quite an interesting take. Several media outlets have verified the individuals indentity and agreed to keep the SD’s name confidential.
Additional indicators that the Democratic Party leadership is moving in that direction appeared on the pages of CQ Politics.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday he plans to turn up the heat on undecided Democratic superdelegates if the party’s presidential nominating contest is not resolved after the last primaries June 3.
Patience.

Popular Vote? Not Hardly.
PocketNines, writing at the Great Orange Satan smacks down the Popular Vote meme.
If the popular vote determined the nominee, no candidate would ever go to Iowa or New Hampshire. They'd spend all their time in big urban areas all over the country from the outset of the campaign, racking up raw numbers. What would be the point of even visiting New Hampshire if you could camp out in Brooklyn?

Tired of the War? Clinton Says Vote for Obama if You Answered Yes.

New Obama Campaign Ad Copy?
I recommend this ad copy as a way to make sure Low Information Voters understand the Sniper Fire claims Hillary Clinton made on several occasions.
- Being caught lying about Tuzla: costly.
- The lie captured on viral video: very costly.
- Bill Clinton vouching for Hillary's honesty: priceless.
Watch the former President's misstatement-riddled explanation for his wife HERE.

First Mark Penn and Now ...

I not sure what to make of this(more pictures at the linked post):What's really interesting, as you can see from these photos, is that McAuliffe posed with supporters of Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign and that a beaming McAuliffe helped them hold up their large Obama signs for the camera. McAuliffe is wearing his Clinton button but it's dwarfed by the Obama sign he's holding.
McAuliffe is about as hyper-partisan as they come. Interesting that this would occur now. What the hell is going on?
